Currently we’re looking for:

Green Roof + Urban Garden Technician

SEEKING KNOWLEDGEABLE SEASONAL TO FULL-TIME WORKER TO HELP WITH ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AND URBAN GARDENING.

This is a seasonal, full-time position that reports to the project manager and has the potential to become a year-round position based on qualifications, workload and so forth. We are seeking someone who has a solid understanding of horticultural practices and regarding planting and plant health care, including pruning, dead heading, integrated pest management, etc. Our guiding principle is to be responsible stewards of the environment and we’re looking for someone who aligns with those values and understands the challenges of establishing and stewarding urban gardens both on the ground as well as on rooftops.

The right person will be skilled at organization, prioritization and short-notice problem solving. You must also be able to install holiday/winter lights and decor as needed, and to drive a vehicle (van, truck, or box truck) with competence and common sense. Possibility of light overnight travel for green roof projects.

The job requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field, a sound understanding of plant types and habits (Midwest natives a plus), record keeping and report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of irrigation controls a plus but not required. Horticultural or environmental background a plus but not required.
