The Landscape Architect at this Bucktown residence brought us in to provide landscaping, rainwater harvesting and stormwater management services. We worked with them to install a 1,000-gallon cistern as well as create a sense of natural serenity in the otherwise urban spot.
The rain garden, sited in the backyard and complementing the modernity of this Bucktown adaptive re-use, is composed entirely of native plants. They help soak up rainwater and snowmelt, keeping it from the sewers and storm drains, and store it in the underground cistern.
