Success 27 Stories Up

300 Feet in the Air | Pavers on Pedestals

This organically maintained rooftop garden, high up in the old Montgomery Ward building, proves that sustainability and urban infrastructure can meet in perfect harmony. This is one of four residential penthouse rooftops that Ecogardens built for The Montgomery.

We installed pavers on pedestals to provide the structure of the deck, as well as putting in water features and plants capable of withstanding the wintry temperature this high up. Although they’re regularly exposed to the elements, these plants have proven remarkably hardy, and we don’t have to replace them. The combination of ornamental characteristics and survivability makes for the perfect rooftop oasis.
